Awesome Trip - Trip Report Coming Soon
THANK YOU to all who provided recommendations and suggestions for our trip. We just returned from an awesome 16 day trip that covered Sydney, Adelaide and Cairns/Port Douglas.
I will be writing a detailed trip report (between loads of laundry, sorting through mail etc) over the next few days. Australia is a fantastic place and I intend on traveling back there some time soon.

Okay when you have time do the trip report.
I was in Australia and New Zealand and Tasmania for the month of March ...so I know all about coming home to a month of mail and bills and laundry and cleaning etc.

"Australia, New Zealand and Tasmania" -Oh, bloody hell, Percy, mate, you're still doing it!! Now, repeat after me: "Tasmania is a state of Australia. Tasmania is a state of Australia. Tasmania..."
Anyway, mate, we had a great time - not only in British Columbia and Alberta but in Canada too, and I'm sorry that the closest we got to you would have been the magnificent Icefields Parkway. Only one complaint -the coffee was a bit weak![Imported](https://www.fodors.com/community/images/smilies/imported/smiley.gif)

You are so funny !!!
Yes I know Tasmania is a state of Australia, but you know down here( or should I say up here !) when I tell people that I toured Australia and New Zealand ...
they ask if I toured Tasmania !!, as if it is a separate country.
Too bad we were so close and yet so far apart.
Yes, the icefields is one of the tourist places in this part of Canada.
I am sure you found the coffee weak !!! because I found the Australian ( including Tasmania) coffee strong.
Did you try Tim Hortons coffe? ..I am sure you did.
Take Care Neil , nice e-mail talking to you.!

Sorry for hijacking your posting debbie_fish but I want to ask Neil a question.
Neil:
How did you enjoy the trip from Australia to (?) Los Angeles.
I am assuming you flew into LA.
From there how did you get to British Columbia?
Thanks
Percy

Percy, we flew into SFO by Qantas, to whom I give full marks for making cattle class as good as you could reasonably expect.
After leaving the Bay Area (Oakland) our stopping places (1-3 nights in each) were:
CA - Gualala, Fort Bragg, Arcata
OR - Ashland, Corvallis, Portland
WA - Port Angeles (crossed on MV Coho)
BC - Victoria, Vancouver, Salmon Arm
AB - Lake Louise, Canmore, Calgary
MT - Great Falls, Bozeman, Cooke City
WY - Cody, Yellowstone NP
ID - Blackfoot
NV - Elko
CA - Truckee, Napa, Hayward (Bay Area)
We notched up close to 9,000 km all up and had a great time in two hospitable and wonderfully scenic countries. But 6 weeks is enough time to live out of a suitcase.
Now you ask, I'm not sure if we tried Tim Horton's coffee. Do they do espresso? If not, maybe we didn't. Sorry.
Sorry, debby_fish. Looking forward to your trip report.

Yes debbie , I am also looking forward to your trip report.
But get the laundry done and pay the bills first !!
Neil ...you took that lovely drive all the way up the coastline to Vancouver and then took the ferry to Victoria.
My goodness you were in Lake Louise and Calgary...I'm just down the road in Edmonton (Capital of Alberta)
Glad you had a good time and yes, six weeks out of a suitcase, !!! You should get a medal !!
Take care
Percy

Neil, Remeber most Australians haven't been to Tasmania, but it doesn't stop them from putting it down: " Oh , its like California in the 60's" I recall some Sydneysider who will go unnammed commenting
