Australia's greatest hits?

Still hoping for some tips on what NOT to miss when we go to Sydney in Jan/Feb 2003 for 2 weeks. Hoping to snorkel in the Reef but don't know if the Jelly Fish will be gone by then. That and other ideas would be most appreciated!

Hi Evan--
There's lots to do in Sydney--what kinds of things do you enjoy? I think having a beer in a pub over in the Rocks is fun, but you're probably looking for better ideas than that.

I really liked my bridge climb and another favorite was taking the ferry rides around the harbor. Then hang out and enjoy the many nice towns like Vaucluse and Watson's Bay. I enjoyed a beautiful afternoon walking through the Botanic Gardens (which is on the harbor and is adjacent to the Opera House). Get an Explorer pass so you can get acquainted with the city; it's a narrated tour which stops at all the major places of interest. You to get on and off at the 20 some-odd stops and reboard the next bus.

When I went snorking on the reef (w/Wavelengh who I recommend) one of the crew told me that the jelly fish are a problem along the shore but it's ok on the Outer Reef.

Debbie

Fordors was off line all yesterday so you may have missed out for that reason. In the meantime do a search of Sydney on this site and see what others have suggested - also do Great Barrier Reef, Daintree, Port Douglas and you should get a wealth of information.
