Australian Lobster Tail?

Hi all,
I've looked at restaurant sites in Sydney and Port Douglas and none of the menus so far have Australian Lobster Tail on them. (A few had the whole lobster) It's very popular here in the states so I thought for sure it would be very popular in Australia.

Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Hi Leslie--
Look for 'Bugs' on the menu--think they were called Balmain Bugs--and yes, they were tasty!

Enjoy,
Debbie

Lobster and crayfish (same type of thing, one is from the sea, the other from fresh water) are very popular and very expensive. I haven't seen it called 'Aust Lobster Tail' but that may just be an American term. Often if you order lobster in a restaurant here, it will be cut in half for easy access to the meat. Sometimes they supply implements to help crack the claws open. Another name for bugs is Moreton Bay Bugs, they are wonderful, look a bit like a crab.
Kay

Hi,
Thanks for they replies. You almost had me there when I read "bugs" and then I looked it up on the net and saw to my delight that you were not talking about insects! I'll have to try bugs when I get there.

There's a place up a block from the Circular Quay called the Lobster. I think it's right by the ANZAC Club.It specializes in lobster of all sorts and claims to have the best lobster sashimi in Australia.Order a la carte as the set menu meals can get expensive. There's a variety of lobster in Australia and if it's from the cooler waters of Tasmania it is a lot like New England lobster.
