I'm not a fan of Cappy's...definitely fits the casual bill, but it was loud, crowded, lots of kids, and food was ho hum.
In Camden, I like the Waterfront restaurant. It's casual but more expensive than Cappy's. It has unbeatable views and really good steamed or stuffed lobster. If the cheese plate looks tempting, don't buy it....you can get it for the half the cost at the grocery store.
* Waterman's Beach Lobster in South Thomaston (near Rockland) is the Winner of James Beard Award for “The Best” lobster rolls. Holly Eats site gives it 5 grease stains and it is also recommended on Chowhound.
I love Boynton MacKay Food Co (next to Lord Camden Inn). Fantastic breakfast (Heuvos Rancheros especially good) and desserts (try the tres leches cake if it's available).

The Camden Deli is a good/casual place to eat for lunch. There's a nice view over the water from the upstairs if you're lucky enough to get a seat outside.
There used to be a cute Mexican restaurant in Camden that was really great for either breakfast or dinner...was small and had a "homegrown" feeling to it. But I can't find the name of it anywhere and am fearing that it has since closed!

I think the Mexican place I'm having a hard time remembering the name of is South by Southwest, but I'm not positive. No website for it, but it's at 31 Elm.
I've never been to Prism Glass Cafe before, but it would fit your "interesting" requirement...in Rockport.
