Anyone been to Keswick Island?
We are interested in snorkeling in the southern GBR region and, thanks to a post by (I believe) tropo, we looked up Keswick Island and it sounds great and affordable. However, first hand experience is always good to hear, so wanting to know if the helpful fodorites have any experience here. If so, when did you go and how was the weather, snorkeling, accommodations?
Thanks,

moving it up in the list in hopes that a new person who has been there would see it. Sorry if it annoys anyone. But the place is quite a bit cheaper than other islands and sounds good.

Out of curiousity, I looked Keswick Island up on Google. I believe it is one of the islands we could see quite close to Brampton Island near Mackay. If it's anything like Brampton (and it certainly looks like it in the pictures), it should be very nice indeed, though I would question how good the snorkeling actually is compared to the outer reef or the coral islands. We went to Brampton in July. There were a couple of windy afternoons...other than that the weather clear and warm.

Thanks, Ralph. We are leaning toward Heron or Brampton, probably Heron for the snorkeling since tropo gave it such glowing reviews. Although Brampton sounds great, too. What is your opinion? We LOVE to snorkel and don't care about resort things, just a comfortable bed and bathroom. Snorkeled once or twice a day on a recent trip to Grand Cayman, and have hundreds of fish and coral pictures to bore our friends with. We would love to add hundreds more from the Pacific waters.
