Air Passes

Okay, I've read some of the other posts about the boomerang passes and there seems to be a differing opinion and I need to book my flight soon so i thought I'd tell you all my travel plans and see if you could tell me if you think it is a good idea.

First I fly from Sydney-Perth July 10
I plan on flying from Perth to Ayers Rock/Alice Springs then to Cairns then back to Perth in September

In late November/early December I will fly Perth-Adelaide
Melbourne-Christchurch
Christchurch-Sydney

Would it be beneficial for me to invest in the boomerang pass
Sherry
I used boomerang passes and found them to be pretty good. They are only available to non-residents of Australia. Check with Qantas or check their website. I got better info talking with the Qantas people in the states. They also have special prices available within Australia so again, the Qantas T/A would have more knowledge.

Hello--
I ended up saving money by booking directly on qantas.com. I will be making 4 flights w/in OZ this July (Sydney-Adelaide-Darwin-Cairns-Sydney) The Boomerang pass cost $160 for to fly w/in the same zone and a 2-zone runs $200...I found booking on the website to be easy and saved me $200USD total, but price it out and see how the math works for you. One factor you may also want to consider is that the Boomerang pass might allow changes w/o a service charge. The e-ticket isn't flexible....

Good luck,
Debbie

Oh, remember that the prices quoted on qantas.com are AUD not US $

I can tell you that on the boomerang pass they say you can make changes without fee but IF you contact them AND try to change you flight - they assure you that it CANNOT be done. I called from my hotel and then had to take the tickets to the airport and was told that NO we cannot change to a later flight - our tickets do not allow it. Go figure....

I have found Virgin Blues fares to be lower than Boomerang Pass. They do not service all the routes you want to travel but do go from Syd to Perth. You can buy some of the tickets on line. Another New Zealand airline Freedom Air has flights from Oz to New Zealand for prices less than Air Pass. Maybe you could make some combination of two. Gook luck.
