Thank you, Gardyloo!!

Gardyloo,

You just saved me nearly $3000! I was able to buy a Europe By Air pass for my inter-European flights next summer, since we are using American (member of oneworld alliance) as our transatlantic carrier.

If you had not responded to my post begging for information about decent connections between Nice and Barcelona, I would never have known about the air pass.

Many, many thanks!

Weadles

Can you give us the details of the pass you got?

I am using American to fly to Scandanavia next summer and am trying to figure out the best deals on several inter-European flights.

Thanks!

Just to clear up any potential confusion, Weadles: I assume you are actually referring to the OneWorld "Visit Europe" pass (http://www.oneworld.com/products/det...fm?ObjectID=25
), not the Europe by Air Flight Pass (www.europebyair.com).

Gardyloo is an excellent resource on these boards for air travel.

Gardy, if you won't mind and it might benefit all if you might run regular posts with general info.

Andre,

You're absolutely right. I am referring to the OneWorld "Visit Europe" pass. For those who are interested, my understanding is that if you are flying transatlantically on a OneWorld Carrier like American, Iberia, British Air, for example, you are entitled to buy a
Visit Europe" air pass. This pass is priced according to certain mileage zones between cities. There is a chart available for you to look at on the OneWorld Alliance Product website.

By combining my American tickets with the Visit Europe pass, I was able to save a substantial amount of money for my inter-European air tickets. I should warn people that many of the airline ticketing agents I spoke to are not familiar with the Visit Europe pass, so you really need to be insistent, and ask for a supervisor if necessary.

I'm sure Andre and Gardyloo can explain this better than I can for those who need more info!

Thanks again, Gardyloo. And thanks, Andre, too!

This is really great. Is this new?

Are there similar products for the other alliances?

Thanks.

Star Alliance has the same type product, except with *A you have to buy a minimum of 3 flights v. 2 on oneworld. But *A has more continental European carriers so the route system is larger. See www.star-alliance.com ("airpasses&quot for sketchy information. A Singapore-based travel agency (cool site) has published the mileage tiers and prices here: http://www.airfares.com.sg/airfares/...an_airpass.htm

Here's the beef on the Star Alliance European Airpass from Lufthansa's US site:

Hope this helps,
