What's with the Krabi weather

We are going to be at the Pimalai resort in Krabi on December 17 and the weather (accuweather) is horrible. Thunderstorms and clouds although warm. Seems the weather has been bad for a while. Has anyone just got back and can shed some light. Can one snorkel or swim etc. Feeling dejected...

I know what you feel like, arrive on the 19th and have been looking forward to Christmas in the sun (for the first time), instead the weather seems to be worse than when we have been to the area in the supposed off season in October/ November...what is going on?

Heard from some friends in Phuket that they have had rain, seems unseasonable for sure, hopefully it will clear up soon.
However....it does appear that these forecasts and weather informations are taken from data as opposed to people on the ground so to spreak, I often see things on weather sites telling me I have thunderstorms and cloudy skies when it is beaming hot sunshine outside.
I would check on Bangkok Post for up to date local weather.
I'll give my friends a call and see what it is like at the moment for you.

That was easy enough. Just called ( they are in Phuket ) and it is hot and good sunshine, that is at 4.20 pm afternoon Monday (now) local time.

So don't panic.

James - thanks for checking up on the current situation, hearing from someone actually on the ground beats the weather sites every time

James thanks for the on ground update. Accuweather states Monday's weather as thunderstorms and cloudy so I think they may have forgotten to update their forcasts. Fodorites are the best. Thanks again.
