Weekend trips from Indonesia

I will be in Indonesia for 3 wks in Christmas and considering to fly to Singapore for a long weekend. Should I try to book my tickets now or wait for last minute deals from Singapore Airlines?

You should be able to get a ticket more cheaply if you wait until you are in Indonesia. It isn't so much last minute deals as it is that tickets within Asia are cheaper if purchased there than if purchased from the US or Europe.

Thanks Kathie. Do you have any idea of how much the ticket's price is going to be?

Just did a quick fare check on Valuair for June SIN-Jakarta return, including taxes etc came out as SGD 244 return (USD 147.80 return )

With these budget carriers they seem to open bopokings perhaps 3 months in advance ( might be more ), Valuair only posting fares up to end October at the moment. The cheapest fares go first, so what you need to do is if you settle on a weekend then book as far in advance as you can to get the cheapest fare, once the cheapest fares go the fares go up and up, so if you can plan ahead you will save. I would certainly go for Valuair over Lion, no disrespect to Lion but valuair are a 'good' airline.

Thanks for the info James, I'll check out those two webpages that you sent me to give me an idea of pricing info. Is ValueAir formerly Garuda Indonesia?

I guess it was pretty safe to assume that the OP was going to be in Jakarta. Or was that known from a previous post.

I just checked travelocity. You could fly Emirates flights 349/348. Depart Jakarta (CGK) at 8:35PM on June 9 (Thurs night) and return from SIN departing 6:05PM on Sunday the 12th. It's $162.60 total, including the $5 travelocity fee.

Garuda is still flying.

Those flights are 1h 40min. Flying the same amount of time but going east to Bali costs twice as much (via sidestep and onetravel.com; travelocity had $484 or so).
