I am putting this question here because I know you could all answer it within 2 minutes.
About the Nancy Chandler map: I am planning on buying the Bangkok one on Amazon before I even leave the US so that I can prepare, but how about the Chiang Mai one? Is it even necessary to purchase? Can I purchase that for cheaper once I am on Thai ground (in Bangkok) or is this one harder to find? I am assuming not since Nancy apparently owns a store in Bangkok?
Thanks

You can buy both Nancy Chandler maps in Bangkok, always for much less than the US price. If you haven't yet seen the Nancy CHandler map, you may not realize that it is so much more than a map - there is a small book that comes with it that contains recommendations for every kind of store or service or museum or... that you can think of, and many you cannot. And the map shows where all of these things are located. (caution: map is not to scale!!) So I recommend buying both maps.

It also takes a while to figure it out, so I'd buy it in advance so that you can "plot your course" before you're standing on a street corner in Bangkok. It's well worth the cost to have it mailed to you.

Well I wouldn't wait to get to Bangkok to buy the maps since you can get them both on Amazon for about $20. I think they are a great tool for planning (if you are into that) and thus most helpful to have in advance of your trip.
