Visas for Thailand going from Langkawi to Ko Lipe?
Hi all,
Just a quick question. We are from New Zealand and Australia and are planning to enter Thailand by catching the ferry from Langkawi Island to Ko Lipe. Where abouts would we come across immigration/customs if we do that considering you land on Ko Lipe from Longtail boats? We were planning on getting issued a Visa on arrival.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Geoff

As far as I know there is no ferry direct to Ko Lipe. You would take the ferry to Satun where you would clear Thai customs get your free 30 day visa. Then you would take a taxi to to the Pakbara Pier which is around 56 km. Here one can can hire a longtail boat or take the ferry that leaves at 11.00 and 14.00 to Ko Lipe. Takes around 3 hrs and cost 500 baht (or 900 return).

Hi there,
My undestanding was there was a ferry travelling Wednesday, Fridays and Saturdays to Ko Lipe from Langkawi
"From early November until Half may daily ferries connect Koh Lipe with Pak Barra and a few ferries per week travel back and forth to Langkawi (Malaysia). The month before and after that weekly ferries might do the same route. "

LA-Fadeaway??? You were planning the same trip. Can you please explain if your ferry to Koh Lipe had been going, is there an immigration checkin prior to boarding the ferry to Koh Lipe?

Well looking at that website:
http://www.kohlipethailand.com/travel_info.html
Shows boats stopped and they will re-post when they know. LA_fadeaway did 'not' do langkai to Koh Lipe as no boat, unfortunately this still comes down to Koh Lipe being very remote and unless things have changed there is no record of any immigration point ( don't go down the line of someone offering how they will pop-over to Satun to get your passport stamped ! ).
Unless you can find otherwise I would go via Satun on the regular ferry boat where there is Immigration on arrival.

Agree with James, when you enter Thailand in any of these unusual methods the onus is on you to find an immigration check point, not the other way round. If you got caught being illegally in Thailand (within Thailand's borders without been stamped in) you could be in serious trouble. If it was me I'd clear immigration at Satun, then head out to the (Thai) islands.
