Tokyo Hotels....

I know these things have been asked before, but I'm looking for a Tokyo hotel from maybe $180 to $250. Friends have recommended the Cerulean Tower ($265) and I was thinking the Park Hotel might be ok. I am hesitant to stay in the Hilton or something in Shinjuku as it looks too sterile/business like. Any recommendations?

We stayed at the Mercure hotel in Tokyo and it was a nice small hotel in a good location. We walked from the station. It is near the shops.

Daiichi hotel (or Daiichi Annex) in Shimbashi seems to be popular on this forum, ditto for Park Hotel. There are a couple of hotels in central areas like Akasaka--New Otani or ANA hotel in Roppongi. I won't write-off shinjuku hotel as many tokyo hotels in other areas can be similarly sterile/business like.

Before you make a reservation, make sure you check the room size.

Thanks for the advice. A friend recommended the New Otani. The garden looks great, but 1600 rooms seems a bit much. We are staying at the Gran Via in Kyoto for now so I would prefer something a bit smaller in Tokyo. Not a boutique, but not something that big.

Hi

My wife and I stayed at New Otani and that was nice. It is located in the Akasaka district and that is a pretty good location in my opinion. Here is my trip report with pictures and links http://gardkarlsen.com/japan_tokyo.htm . Hope that you can find some useful info there
