Tipping in China

Husband and I are going to China on a business trip. The company in China is supplying a driver for him and a driver for me. What is appropiate to tip them at the end of our stay.

Nothing. But if the driver does something really special for you guys, then it's up to you to do whatever.

Yes, when we have a driver, we always invite the driver to eat in the same restaurant (sometimes same table, sometimes not; depends on situation). The driver may or may not accept. But either way, we will pay, or at least offer to pay, for his meals.

If it's a long day of driving, we'll buy him Red Bulls as well.

NO! You can't mean that. In China, Red Bulls? What are Red Bulls? I thought everything in China was Red: the songs, the food, the ideas, all Red Chinese.

A tip for any amount in appreciation for the services received is always welcome be it part of the culture or not. At the same time tipping is definitely not expected like in the USA.

My company tells me do NOT tip the driver that is provided for me (a company employee) and don't have him eat in the same restaurant. You may want to ask someone from the company what is appropriate. I always feel awful because he spends a lot of time waiting for me but that's his job.

No tipping is required or expected.
