I think that if you compare posts on this and other Thailand tourist sites, you will notice a sea-change in many people's attitude to wildlife and conservation in the kingdom. Thy are more aware for th disgraceful record Thailand has on this issue. - Social media works!!

however the opening of the "zoo" - highlights further how animal welfare and conservation laws within Thailand are to little too ineffective and too late.

International shame is probably the only way effective change will happen in a country where places like this are legal, elephants have less rights than pickup trucks and millions of people are still prepared to pay for a selfie with some poor exploited creature.

it is the self-appointed elite that need to take heed - they are ultimately responsible for Thailand being a hub of animal exploitation.
