Tidal Wave - Penang ?

I'm going to Penang soon and staying at the Eastern & Oriental Hotel.
Does anyone know if Penang and the Hotel have been affected ?.

Any advice ?

I too am concerned about Penang as we have planned a visit in March.
May God protect everyone there.

We are arriving at the E & O in mid February. From what I have been able to find out on sites like Virtual Tourist there seems to have been very little damage on Penang although there has been considerable loss of life mostly from people on the beach when the wave hit. BBC had a shot from Malaysia showing a wave washing over the retaining wall and into the pool at the E & O. It did not look too serious but at this early time it's really hard to know. Maybe you could try emailing the hotel ?

Thanks for the advice galiano. I'll try that.
We are due to stay at the Copthorne Orchid resort, is that near the E+O?

Got a e-mail from the E & O.It's going to take 3-4 days to return everything back to normal - clean out the pool, tidy up the basement/lobby and surroundng area of the pool.
Apart from that everything is normal..
