Hello Jodo,

KT, our 3 kids (15, 13 & 10) & I will arrive BKK from CM staying at IC & Hi on Ploenchit March 7-9 till we return to TKY on a very early flight back. It might be hang out time at the pools for the kids when we arrive Friday & some shopping then dinner . I am looking forward to having a great SeaFood meal in Somboon close to Nat'l Stadium. They were very gracious to send me a map & a warning about the Scams when I emailed them to inquire which Restaurant is closest to our hotel. Our schedule is pretty fluid since this is our 3rd visit already.

Saturday, we get to hang out with Tong to finally make it to the Temples, Chinatown & a visit to JT.

I know how you feel, Jodo. Last year we had plans to try to meet up with a number of Fodorites and they all fell through! It's such a pleasur to meet someone you "know" from Fodors!

I would also like to meet up with some of you, especially since we live too far away to make the Boston, LA, or Hawaii GTGs!

Keep me in mind if you're ever in Minneapolis

We're in CM MArch 1-7 & are scheduled to have Sgt Kai take us out to Doi Suthep on March 2nd Sunday. Is the 4 Seasons on the way back from DS to the city? Is it anywhere close? Let me know so I can ask SK. I thought a lunch at FS would be a nice treat or even just a quick hello would be good.

Hey Tim & Liz,

If I can got to the BOS GTG every year, you can too (smile)... I live in west central Illinois and have to drive 3 hours to reach Ohare. You have an airport closer, I think.

Carol, of course you're right, and Tim has never been to Boston! Maybe we'll make it next time. He works every other weekend so if it's on his weekend off, and we aren't attending a wedding (it's amazing how many we have this year) we'll try to make it. I'd love to meet all of you!

Bmttokyo, Kathie, and all the Fodorites...
After the flurry of messages we posted as we prepared for our journey, I know we ended up acting like we'd fallen off the face of the earth....(which we did for the last couple of weeks before we left)...But here we are ....at the 4 Seasons Chiang Mai What a beautiful spot!! I'm gonna try to do a trip report....after several trips to SE Asia, I still feel like it's brand new.
Speaking of that, Singapore was brand new....we finally stayed there instead of just visiting the airport. The subway art is gorgeous...
Anyway, for those of you getting ready to be in this part of the world, or who are already here, we're so appreciative of the connection.

J and D

Jodo- I'll try to ask Sgt Kai if we could swing by CM FS on our way back to town from Doi Suthep. I'll call your hotel to check what you're up to. Who do I look for?

We're leaving Chiang Mai on that Sunday....heading to SW China...crossing in the night once again. Hope you have a wonderful stay in CM....By the way, there is an Elephant Preservation Center north of CM where we visited last year. So different than a regular "tourist spot". You and your children might find it to be a very honest look at the elephant's plight in Thailand.
Carol, where in Illinois are you? Our kids were born in Champaign-Urbana...early 70's so that dates us....
Tim and Liz..we'll be heading home when you're heading here. It's kind of like a Fodorite Relay....we all keep passing the baton to each other.

Jodo,

Prepare CM for us. Loooking forward to seeing Yui at Lots of Thai. We did a few hours of non touristy elephant visit with Tong so the kids are not interested with that for now. Have fun !!!

Let me know when you stop by Tokyo.

Jodo, Sorry we missed you when we dropped by 4 seasons last Sunday at 1 PM. Just took a chance. Crazy me- did not really know who to look for. Asked the very very helpful reception if they had any guests who had initial J & D. They tried but could not find you.
