I was wondering if anyone could help me... I am getting married in Mid April, and we are going to Thailand for the Honeymoon.
What we are after is beautiful scenery, peaceful surroundings, great beach, maybe a bit of diving, and why not a bit of luxury too!
Were thinking either Koh Samui - but where? is it too commercial, like package holiday central?
Or Krabi - Havent read so much about this area, so any info would be great
Or around Phuket. Maybe East coast to one of the little Islands around Phuket, as I thought it might shelter us from the on coming Monsoon ??
PLEASE, ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GREAT, I feel that I'm going mad scouring through every hotel and beach on Sawadee- I need first hand expert info!!

How long do you have for the trip? Do you want to spend all the time as bgeach time? Do you want one location or see different?
If you can give us more infor we can suggest specifics.

Koh Samui ard Phuket are both very tourist orientated, that also of course means plenty of accommodation choices, sightseeing, restaurants and nightlife.
If you wanted to mix quiet time with some 'busier' time you could choose somewhere such as Koh Yao for a few days of nothing but relaxation, beach, some snorkeling and then some time in a busier area such as Phuket itself.

When the monsoon rains comes it effects the whole area but end April you 'should' be ok.

Krabi area is much quieter than Phuket or Samui and more for those who want scenic beauty with some choice of restaurants and some lively bars around Ao nang but nothing like as busy as Phuket or Samui. There are also other quieter places such as Koh lanta island plus many other beaches.

Give us an idea of budget too, places can range from $15 to $1,000 + !

Reading back through maybe somewhere like the 'Nakamanda' in Krabi might suit, quiet, but not too far from Ao Nang for eating out, nice scenary etc.

We are spending 6 nights in Thailand. Would like to stay in one place as its such a short time. Was thinking of spending up to $250 per night.
Had a look at the hotels you suggested. They both look fab, although pricey- we would have to go for the most basic of the rooms available. Can you suggest anywhere else?

Mid April is the end of the Easter Break (i notice a big price drp after April 17) - the quiet parts may be busier than usual!

Ive stayed at the Royal Meridian Phuket Yacht club - a very nice almost boutique hotel (110 rooms)- with very good service and excellent prices. The hotel is in a very quiet spot on an an excellent quiet beach. I stayed late April without a drop of rain.

Friends of mine had their honeymoon in Krabi and said it was beautiful but the beaches are packed during the day with day trippers and the idyllic "deserted beach" is a myth - others may be able to offer better advise

$250 a night will be well within your budget for the Royal Meridian Phuket Yacht Club and most other 5* hotels. So you should be able to get good rooms at these hotels for this price.

As Walter said after Thai new year prices drop a lot, take a look at the Meridien Yacht Club and also Meridien resort, also the Kata Thani is an excellent choice on Phuket

www.phuket-luxury-hotels.com has lots of pics, if you can get the Kata Thani or one of the meridiens that should see you fine well within that price.

Meridien resort is on it's own cove beach between lively Patong and quieter Karon, next beach down has the Kata Thani at Kata, Meridien YC is further down at very quiet Nai Harn. Kata is a good balance, not too busy but nice restaurants close by and easy to get to/from places.

You can also get to Samui places from those links too, both Samui and Phuket are just over 1 hr flight, frequent, but note that air fares to Phuket much cheaper than Samui as Bangkok to Samui only 1 airline ( Bangkok Air ) whilst Phuket is served by no less than 5 different airlines, that means lots of competition and cheap fares.
