THAILAND - when to go?
most likely one of the most asked questions but could not locate it in the log!
While Oct-Jan seems to be advisable, how would Jan score?
And within the Oct-Dec timeframe, would Oct and Nov score highest? Especially wrt our intent to also hike in the North?

October can still be rainy -- although the best weather I've ever had was in October. January is a terrific month to go. The earlier the better as it starts to get a bit hotter by the end of the month.

thks for the answer. What do you mean with hotter? We have been living the last 6 years in Dubai, thus are used to temperatures above 40C and high humidity levels (although less comfortable with the latter).

anytime from nov 1 to feb 1 is the best season for most parts..

jan would be just fine...

Doubt the temperature will be above 40C, but the humidity might feel that it is - very very humid. I would say between Nov - Jan are good times, though mid-to-late- Dec gets the holiday crowds and higher prices.

We're going for 3 weeks starting February 1. Will we have missed the dry-but-not unbearably-hot weather or will we already be into unbearably hot?

April is a good time because although it rains it only does it for a very short time. Which means the weather is not too hot. In addition if you go during their New Years you can see the water splashing everywhere

Can't agree about April ...it is the hottest most humid month. November to Feb is best. Jan wil be fine but more expensive. Have fun!

No, July and Aug is the hottest and most humid month. April is still good weather, not too hot and not too rainy. How can Nov to Feb be best when its so rainy. Furthermore, it is very interesting to go there during their New Year celebration
