This winter I'll be traveling with my family to Taipei and my parents really want to go to hot springs in the area. I've been to Taiwan and the area before (frequent traveler to TW / HK / China) but is there a particular hot spring in the Taipei area that is famous or highly recommended? I am aware there are nice ones in Taichung and Hualien areas, but we're looking to stay in the norths--taipei / new taipei / taoyuan.

I was not at all impressed by the public baths at Beitou, but one of the hotels there might work for you.
