Warm greetings again Smeagol and congratulations on yet another trip to beloved Thailand. (And kudos on your forthcoming journey to Japan; you are in for such a sweet time. My most recent Tokyo visit was this past March for meetings, followed by Easter holiday weekend; productive and special as ever, and currently scheduled to return in September.)
To add to the fine above thoughts, will suggest not completely giving up on staying at the cherished Amanpuri for your future Thailand holidays. Over the years, I (we) have had joyous - and *relatively* cost efficient - long weekend Aman visits by staying in the low season periods of late October and early May. (And will give forever thanks to the Amanpuri for offering 'frequent guest' rates at tariffs below those listed on her website.) My review of the Amanpuri on my profile page doesn't begin to capture the joy and serenity of staying at that property. Great stays these past few years. Suspect you will love your Amanpuri times.
Concerning flights, will give you an update and suggestion for your next long-haul journey out of the UK. Last week, had the honour of participating at a Singapore Airlines event at Changi, specifically the unveiling of SIA's enhancements to her first, business and economy seating, as well as her inflight entertainment system. I was particularly interested in getting a hands (and seat) on experience with her business class product and appreciated some subtle changes and improvements. These enhancements will be available later this year, beginning with SQ's Singapore - Heathrow service, via B77Ws. So, something for you and your beloved to consider.
More later, as a new week of work and travel await. I am very happy for you, Smeagol; savour your planning. Warm wishes to you and all,
