Stupid question about transiting at LCCT
I will need to overnight in KL (LCCT) in order to make a horrid connection on Air Asia. I like the proximity (and price) of this:
http://www.tunehotels.com/LCCTTransi..._Malaysia.aspx
I realize it will be a bed in a box, but I see it's very close to LCCT so it works. Do I have to clear immigration, get visas, whatever else in order to go to the hotel? I notice it says Transit Hotel, so it got me to thinking perhaps not?
Told you it was a stupid question. Hopefully, someone has done this. Thx.

You will have to clear customs and immigration before you get to the hotel.
It is some distance from the LCCT, although you could probably walk it if you didn't have too much luggage.
We were considering staying there until we read their FAQs. One answer was "Some of our rooms have windows"
If you want to go up market a bit you could try the Concorde - http://www.concorde.net/sepang/
To get to it you have to take a taxi or a bus to the main terminal and a free shuttle from there. We stayed there a couple of weeks ago and it was fine.

Just to confirm, yes you must clear customs and immigration to get to the Tune hotel. There is no real transit hotel at the LCCT - there's no transit capability period, since there's no checked through baggage.
Remember to add towel rental and A/C charges to the Tune rates.

As I recall, there's a large-ish food court in a separate building, between the LCCT and the Tune Hotel. That might be a better place to hang out that the departure halls, which were quite a zoo when I was there (but that was before they finished a big expansion to the international wing).

well Andy I gotta call it what it is. Really it's a lazy question.
If I have to clear customs etc, might as well go to the hotel. I'll need a cigarette anyway....not that I can smoke one in the Tune-Box.
BTW Micheal if you're reading this, I booked a room at the Putu Bali Villa. Don't usually care for SEA beach scenes, but we'll see; figure if it's not my cup of tea, can head to Ubud a couple of days early, get a massage and eat some granola.

It is a ' bed in a box '.I had an 8 hr layover.I stayed there for sheer convenience.Prefered it to the airport lounge, too noisy. There is a pick up & drop 'shuttle',running every 30 min,RM5.Its just across the car park.In full view as you exit LCCT,cant miss it for its deep red horrendous exterior color design.
Absolutely clean, comfy bed,a compact & clean loo.You have to pay extra for towels, toiletry & aircon(which you'll need).A single window open to a common passage, which has to be kept shut preferably.A coffee shop,a multi-cuisine asian restaurant & a 7Eleven.As Michael put it.There is also a large food court closeby to hang out.
Was rudely woken up past midnight to a fire alarm going off,all made a dash to the common area, only to be told someone had lit a cigarette in a room. The staff could'nt turn it off, stating that a fire dept has to come and investigate. That took an hr.Geuss they have sorted it out by now.Would recommend Tune for a good nights sleep.

For what it is, Putu is a pretty good value. Waroeng Bonita, right across the road, isn't a bad place for a good meal. Since I eat Thai and Indonesia when I'm there on business, I tend to head straight to Bali Catering once I'm on my own.
Access to the beach is by the temple. Turn right and walk north if you want some sparsely populated beach walking time. Just don't give the boys in the bushes too hard a time. Head south if you want some people. Just don't stop at KuDeTa unless someone else is paying.
