Yukata are sleepwear? I always thought they were bathrobes. In any case, I won't steal any...

Strictly speaking, the cotton robe to wear while sleeping is called nemaki. It's kind of a lounging bathrobe that you can also wear around an onsen, but not out on the street.. Yukata is a light-weight kimono for summer wear especially at festivals.

You are correct about nemaki. I was thinking of the yukata given at all the ryokan we have been. The nemaki provided at a lot of International chain hotels are more often now the westernized two piece version we have noticed.

I just found this and have to confess I help myself to TP, not taking it home but 1/4 of a roll daily. When you go to certain places and there is only a hole in the ground next to the pig sty, TP comes in handy.
