Souther India Travel Logistics

We will be traveling to Southern India and want to see Bangalore, Mysore, the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary near Kumily, and then on to Trivandrum. We will be flying in and out of Bangalore. From Bangalore we will be driven to Mysore. From Mysore we would like to go to Periyar. Can anyone tell me the quickest most efficient way to get to Periyar from Mysore? It looks pretty far and from what I can tell there are no nearby airports. Also what would be the quickest most efficient way from Periyar to Trivandrum? If driving how long would the trip be? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Lonely Planet says there's a direct bus from Kumily (just outside the park) to Trivandrum - eight hours. Mysore looks difficult - easiest might be to fly to Kochi and take a bus from there - five hours from Ernakulam - or to Madurai - it's four hours from there.

Hope you dont mind a suggestion which would mean a route change.IF you want to see wildlife, you'd probaby be better to go to Mudumalai or Nagarhole, both of which you can easily reach by car from Mysore, Most people in search of wkildlife say these parks are better than Periyar for that purpose, I havent been at Periyar (yet) but did stay at, and love, Cicada resort at Kabini.
If you havent already, do check the Indiamike website and search for info about routes, parks, ec.

Thanks for the valuable info. I will definately consider the other wildlife parks. Would March be a good time to go to one of these parks?
