At this rate I'd better bring my wheelbarrow to carry all my change. I was a millionaire for about 10 minutes in Luang Prabang when I changed $100 into Kip!

Versus, sorry I seem to have hijacked Gpanda with transatlantic spelling and Fodorite terms and conditions. Will recompense by trying to answer any further SR questions you may have although not about Ponheary as she was booked when we were there. We did meet her though and she seemed lovely. We had her brother Dara as a guide for the three days that we went round the temple area.

$100 into kip?? Did you haul it away in a wheelbarrow? I changed $20 at a time and could barely stuff it all into my waist pack.

A or O, easy - think O for dOme, as many of state/country buildings have domes.

State or country capitals, these kids have come a long way. When we visited, one child was trying to sell me some thin bamboo bracelets. 20/$1. I said that if he could count to 20, he'd get the $2; if o 10, then only $1. He did fine up to ten, and stuggled for those up to twenty, but with the help of our guide, got to there. He got $2 and I got 40 bracelets.

I then gave these bracelets as gifts to little girls in an African village. It's a small world, isn't it!

Sandi-don't worry the bracelet sellers were still there. The capital dodge was an addition.

Bob, lawyers lose cases only so we can appeal and bill our clients even after the case is "over". When that fails, thankfully seldom, I do know all of the state capitals. It's not quite so impressive from a 53 year old guy in a suit, but still has some rewards.

Our guide discouraged us from buying things and giving money to children. He explained that if the kids are successful at it, their parents will take them out of school and force them to sell/beg. Thus, they will not get an education. It was hard for us not to help when a couple of dollars means so little to us, but his point was a good one.

We were told by Ponheary that only about 25% of the children go to school. There certainly were a lot of kids around the temples during the day.
