side trip to Vietnam from Thailand?

Hello, Currently planning a 12 day trip to Thailand. I am wondering if it is possible to take a quick side trip to Vietnam (maybe one major city/site)? I haven't done any research, but am 1/2 Vietnamese so feel like it would be a shame to not see some of the country when I'll have flown some 24 hrs to get to the region. Would appreciate any feedback, especially if someone has done something similar. Thx!

it is possible but with only 12 days that would leave your bkk trip short...

i did it spent about 5 days around hanoi, which i prefer

can one spend 2-3 days there? Is Hanoi a better destination than Saigon? I'm assuming the flights from BKK are reliable and safe..
thanks and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

yes 3 or 4 days would be perfect for hanoi....i think many people prefer it to saigon...

travel is easy and safe....i flew air france from bkk to hanoi

i got a great rate from eddie at sea tours in bkk:

[email protected]

saved me about 50%

again i will say that there is tons to do in bkk so don't cut that short but i respect your wishes to visit you heritage country as well

thank you for your feedback gloria! My mom is originally from saigon, so was hoping it retained some of its old charm. By the sounds of it, this isn't the case..
