Sheraton Royal Orchid Bangkok

I've read a few reviews on Trip Advisor that say the hotel doesn't run a shuttle to/from the BTS anymore. Is that true?

I can book the hotel for 1999 Bath per night with breakfast but I'm worried about the shuttle thing...

There is a shuttle to/from the skytrain every 30 minutes. The boat leaves the ROS on the hour and half hour, and leaves the pier below the BTS on the quarter hour and three quarters hour.

Yes, but the reviews said the boat service wasn't running anymore because of low occupancy.

If you want a definitive answer, perhaps you could e-mail the hotel.

There are at least two reviews on TA as recent as August 2010 that specifically mention the availability of the boat service to the Skytrain. If you are really concerned, why don't you contact the hotel directly via e-mail and confirm.

Hmm, that's strange, but then again it IS September. Rainy season isn't exactly the height of the tourist season in Bangkok.

Take a look at the reviews that mentioned that the boat wasn't running. Were they from the time of the red shirt protests in Bangkok? That was a time of extremely low hotel occupancy in Bangkok (in the 10% -20% range) so they might have discontinued during that time.

i read something about ROS today that talked about a shuttle service by bus... maybe that is what is discontinued... they went without a boat for a long time so i suppose it is possible that they did away with it...

best to email them or call them...

Mcbg - dont get the hump, none of the posters are being mean thae are just making suggestions. Ask all the questions you want and we will do our very best to answer but sometimes the obvious answer is just that.

Oh, apparently if you go to Asiatravel.com and book their 'crazy rate deal' for a 5-star riverside hotel, it's the Royal Orchid Sheraton. At 1999 Baht per night, with breakfast and taxes included, it's a steal. I will probably go ahead and book tonight. I will post to confirm if it really that hotel.

I just checked and the 'crazy rate deal' isn't the same as the 'crazy sale', which does end Oct 31st. The 'crazy rate deal' is kind of like the mystery hotel on Wotif.

Well if you can get the Sheraton at that price- with breakfsat and taxes take it and don't worry about the boat- at that great rate you can afford to take taxis everywhere!
