Self-drive tour ..in India!!!??

Before you all say, "You're nuts to even consider it" (agreed--you'll never get me behind the wheel of a car in india!)...

read this article, from last month's British Airways flight magazine:

Maybe BA thinks it has too many passengers and is trying to kill some off?

"Self-driving across India is ideal for people who are reasonably confident drivers" - unbelievable. The piece reads like it never occurred to her that she could hire a driver as well as a car. Or as an ad for the outfit that arranges this madness (although I suppose the That desert is about the best place to try it).

Thursdaysd, LOL at your first sentence.
Come to think of it, the BA flights WERE jam-packed !!

Can you imagine someone who'd never been to India, pre-paying for this and then getting their first sight of reality?

It's an odd/dangerous thing to advise tourists to do. Seems like it was more of a gimmick to have something different to write up in their magazine.

Jaya - I read it as more of an ad for this outfit - http://wwccr.com/ - that organized it. Said outfit seems to be run by rally drivers, but what works for them isn't necessarily a good idea for everyone else.

Rally drivers may also be tourists but the average tourist is not necessarily a rally driver, nuff said!
