Seclusion & Koh Samui beach in May - Dusit vs. Le Meridien?

We're spending 4 or 5 days in Koh Samui in May and would just like to relax in a secluded hotel with a nice and uncrowded beach. (And preferrably with not that many kids running around.) We're just fine with staying on premise all the time. Nature excursions would be nice though. (You know how they have half-day trips to the forests and mangrooves in Datai Langkawi.)

I've done a search on the forum and am still not quite clear on how the beaches of Dusit and Le Meridien compare.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Kat

Le Meridien beach was nice, but a lot of rocks and corals in the water (unless they did some improvements...)

Perhaps the Laem Set Inn would be right for you. It is secluded and has a beach that was empty most of the time during our July 2000 stay. See the website: www.laemsetinn.com. The Lipa Noi "honeymoon suite" is excellent and very private. See also the section entitled "Adults only area". They offer a good boat trip and can arrange excursions such as a trip to the waterfall in the center of the island.

I would go for the Dusit Santiburi. There are lots of tours and excursions that cater for virtually all tatses/styles. Dusit also easier for getting out to restaurants etc

Wow I thought the Le Meridien beach was wild only - but didn't realize it was rocky as well! Thanks!

Would there be large tour groups staying at Dusit?

Regarding Le Royal Meridien in Samui, this is however one of the best hotels we ever stayed at...

Great rooms, superb villas, wonderful views (the hotel itself is located on a hill top)and they have two great pools (the infinity one up on the hill) and a large one just at the beach...

I am not sure that the Dusit offers the same type of views, as it is located on a flat part of the island.

The point regarding the beach is a valid one... but the rest does compensate for this small defect.
