Scirocco, Bangkok

Can anyone let me know the website or telephone number for this restaurant?

I don't have a web site or phone number but it is at the top of the State Tower building at the Saphan Taksin sky train stop. Great view!

We went without reservations and didn't have any trouble getting a table for 2 during the week but it may be difficult during the weekend.

We had a great dinner there although Peter's prawn dish was far better than my snapper fish dish. The caesar salad was perfect as was the lobster bisque!

Be ready to empty out your wallet! We spent more money here for dinner and drinks than we did for our next 5 meals combined!

Cheers!

The bar is called Sky Bar. It is right next to the restaurant. Both are totally outside, and 64 floors up. And yes, you can go just for drinks and the view. It's spectacular!! Drinks will cost you a heft price... about $7.50 for a beer, about $75 for a bottle of Woodbridge wine!! BUT... the view is something else!! Go for it. Forget the meal at Scirocco, just have a drink with a view.

One more thing, make sure you are not dressed looking like backpackers or you may be turned away. It's a nice place and smart casual is expected.

Belle, as Carol has said, no problem having a drink at the outside bar as long as you are not dressed too casually. I talked to someone that was denied entrance because he was wearing slacks and water sandals. There is also an inside bar with a great view.

The Sky Bar sits out on the corner of the building and the view is well worth the price of the cocktail.

Personally, I wouldn't dine at the Sirocco again but I would definitely splurge for a drink at the bar! You are not allowed to take photos but there was an article about this place in the Bangkok Air magazine for Feb. I took a copy of it so I will scan the photos and include them in my online photo album that I am putting together.

Cheers!

Thanks. Thanks for the info. We are by no means back packers, it's just that we want to go to Sirocco, but we don't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on so-so food. Some report I've read claim the food there is not the best. This is why I was wondering if it had a bar, to check out the views.

I would never go to a place like that in sandals or flip flops-that would be a huge faux pas! =)

I believe there is also a picture of the sky bar on the first page of an article on BKK in this month's US Conde Naste Traveller.
I might splurge on one drink to enjoy the view.

If you do a search on google for sky bar bangkok, the first listing will give you some really great photos of the place.

Is it safe to drink cocktails at places like Sky Bar or hotel bars?? Do you they make their ice with filtered water, or normal tap water which should be avoided? Thanks.. Ken
