Riverview or Deluxe BKK Marriott & Spa

After 2 weeks of tourist class hotels in Goa and Siem Reap we are treating ourselves to 6 nights at BKK Marriott & Spa..(end of march 2006)..The price right now is about 140.00 U.S. for Deluxe Riverview and 128.00 for Deluxe.(off of various website).I guess for the 12.00 extra $$'s per night one might as well book the riverview..But my question is, should i book at these prices or could they go down??

Tracey,

As I understand prices are set for the year so I think they will not come down. I wouldn't wait to long to arrange your reservations since the BKK Marriott is a popular place and the longer you wait the more chance they are fully booked. And yes, take the riverview room. Great choice by the way, it is a beautiful place.

Tracy,
I agree that I doubt the prices will come down. This is a very nice hotel and well worth the extra $s for riverview. Actually, I thought all the rooms were riverview, just that some were full and some were partial. We really liked it there last time and will be back near the end of our upcoming trip in Feb. BTW they have the MOST wonderful buffet breakfast there that I've ever partaken in. Foods from every nation and if you have a liesurly meal, it tends to be enough to last just about all day. Not only that, the outdoor setting is so, so, Thai.

many rooms do not face the river or have a view of it....inside the room, they are all identical in the same class however...

riverview is nice....i prefer the riverview from the main (center) building which also looks over the pool...some river views in the side buildings only look out to the water....infact you do not see any ground on that side of the river---just river....they are good but i prefer river plus pool view and the higher up the better....only 5 stories at the most...
let me look at the rates and i will be back

opn the huahin site i find the following rates until mar 31....$131 for non river view, and $149 for river view....these rates include tax/service (17.7%) and breakfast....so it is a bargain either way...btw i used 40B to one US dollar for conversions...

the breakfast alone is worth $15 per person...

last year i found that they reduced the rates slightly in late winter on the discount sites---about 300 B per nite...i would not count on it this year however...

i personally no longer pay the extra for riverview as i have stayed there maybe 20 times....not to say that i don't like watching the river and enjoying the views...

if your time spills over into april i think they will treat you to the lower rates for that part....try getting a price on line that overlaps and see what happens before you pay....

I checked with hoteltravel.com and they are 143.00 per night including breakfast and tax..But i already put in my request with huahin.com, so i am going to wait until they confirm my reservation to see for sure what their price is..If it is higher, i am going to email them and tell them that hoteltravel.com is cheaper... before i give them my cc number..
