Kathie-- after our hop on hop off bus today, I now understand more of where we are-- directly across the road from Raffles Hotel, now closed for total renovation.
We road down Orchard road too--what a mess...
This is an interesting city combining interesting looking hi-rises, unique monuments, lovely old colonial buildings and fabulous shop houses, both restored and untouched. Btw, as a cab driver said to us, you have to be rich to live here well.

Our trip is over and we head home at mid-night tonight.
Singapore has been a fantastic place to end the trip. Our hotel experience, the JW Marriott South Beach, started out on a bad foot, but corrected itself.
We had two outstanding meals, at the hotel's Japanese and at their Chinese restaurants (our 52nd Anniversary) with extrodinary foods, especially K's white pepper crab experience last night.
We can keep our suite until 6:30 and our van comes for us at 8:15--$55 S.
Today we spent 3 hours visiting The Garden by the Bay, a massive indoor and outdoor park exploring trees, flowers and plants from around the world. Amazing experience, not to be missed.
Unbelievablely reasonable for a major attraction. This combined with our hop on hop off bus experience earlier were our tourist experiences in Singapore.
Flight home is Singapore Air to Frankfurt and Luftansa to Boston.
Next up 5 weeks in Egypt and Dubai at the end of January.
