Warm Friday morning greetings from Seoul, S. Korea to you, Larry; congratulations once again on your future trip to our sweet home of Singapore.
Well done on booking the Pan Pacific hotel; she is a fine property. As kindly noted above, she is home to an exceptional Indian restaurant, Rang Mahal. My most recent visit was ~ six weeks back for a business dinner; wonderful as ever. (And concur with the thoughtful impressions of the Madras New Woodlands restaurant; always enjoyed great cuisine with friendly staff.)
Will strongly suggest a visit to Raffles, that well-aging icon I first encountered ~ half-century back as a rather young lad, travelling with my parents and siblings. Will also note that the above mentioned Doc Cheng's Raffles restaurant closed her doors some time ago. I miss that dining spot for various sentimental reasons, but Raffles still has some most acceptable options. One suggestion for you is her Tiffin Room - and her Indian cuisine offerings - which remains a favourite of a London-based business colleague.
[Concerning Indian cuisine - and a bit off-topic - will give the highest praise to Campton Place Restaurant, located within the Taj Campton Place hotel in San Francisco. For various business reasons, I was obliged to finish last week's SF Bay Area working trip at the Taj Campton; what an exquisite boutique hotel and restaurant in the Union Square neighbourhood. My review of the property on my profile page just touches on her special qualities; quite the jewel box.]
Any additional SIN suggestions, Larry, honoured to assist. Signing off from a place I have grown to appreciate for business travel, Seoul. (In more off-topic matters, attended a presentation this week concerning the future Four Seasons, Seoul, presently scheduled for September, '15 opening. She will be a welcome addition to the Seoul lodging scene, for business travellers and holiday makers.) Love Seoul - and the Incheon airport, soon to fly SQ back home to Singapore. Early and warm weekend wishes to you and all,
robert

Robert, I am so sorry to hear that Doc Cheng's is gone! It has been a favorite of ours for many years. Unfortunately, we didn't get there on our last visit to Singapore 2 years ago. I found the food in the Tiffin room rather bland for my taste, but it depends on what one likes.

A few additional thoughts, jacket watch:
As Kathie mentioned, take time to walk through the Botanical Garden--whether or not you got to the recommended restaurant there. It's a stunningly beautiful tropical area and makes for a fantastic afternoon. Incidentally, I walked back to the Marina Bay areaPan Pacific from there--it took some hours, making several shopping and eating stops, but was a great way to "feel" the city, especially the liveliness of Orchard Road.
Are you staying at the PP near/surrounded by Suntec Center? (There's also a Pan Pacific on Orchard.) If so, there's an adjacent large mall (one of many, many, many in SG) called Marina Sq Mall with a food court, The Gallerie, in case you're craving quick nearby good food on a day you don't feel like going out (e.g. jet lagged arrival day perhaps?). You can reach it directly from the second floor of the hotel--it's on the fourth floor of the mall.
If you're at that Pan Pacific, see if TJ is still working at the concierge desk. He is not only full of information, but lively and great fun, and will help make your stay there a delight!
Conch eh?...memories of Miss Vi's on St John. Yummy

The PP we have reserved is in the Marina Bay area. I think thats the one by the mall. Nice to know the mall is connected o the hotel. Thank you.
I will seek out TJ and we should remember that as that is what the son of one of our friends is nicknamed. I hope he is still there.
We had the conch at an area called fish fry in Nassau which is full of small. local places. I normally try a local beer in every port and for me their brew, Sands, was the best of all the islands we visited.
Cheers, Larry.
