Gaggan is located on Langsuan Rd. (next door to Mayfair Marriott). It was an easy 15 minute walk from the Renaissance. The restaurant is located down a quaint little alley containing a spa and another restaurant (name escapes me). Gaggan presents beautifully at night- an illuminated old fashioned white colonial style manse. The house is comprised of several small dining areas... there looked to be about 8 tables on the main floor, and I understand there are more upstairs.
The interior is many shades of white with whitewashed wooden floors.
Gaggan's concept is "progressive Indian/ Indian-fusion". The menu to us was heavily Indian, with Italian touches. Personally, we're fans of the traditional Indian Dishes (which are also on the menu) so we explored some with the fusion, as well as having our favorites. For starters, we had Salmon tartare with Bengali mustard and Potatoes stuffed with a fig chutney. For our main, we had Bhindi Masala, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Dal. (note: while the Bhindi and Tikka sound fairly normal, they were absolutely extraordinary! The BEST we've ever tasted). Oh, and the Nan is fantastic! We had both the sun dried tomato and olive. For dessert, we had the deconstructed Mango.
Gaggan, himself, was onsite cooking, and came out to the dining room to ensure everyone was pleased with their meals.
The two of us left the restaurant well satisfied. The tab came to about $80.00 for 2 persons with minimal alcohol ( we had 3 beers, and a couple of bottles of water).

rhkkmk, my partner just corrected me. Gaggan is actually a few doors down from the Mayfair. You enter alley/driveway on same side of road as Mayfair. We think it's across from Langsuan Soi 3.
I'm sure we must've saw the bakery. There were so many neat places to eat and drink on that street. The detached restaurant out front of the Mayfair entrance looked interesting. Didn't eat there, but walked past it as we made a quick tour of the Mayfair Lobby. Very nice feel! Loved the Lobby water feature.
