Dusit Thani Bangkok and the MRT/Skytrain

We are considering staying here for our trip in January. Would like to get some feedback from Fodorites on their stay there(in the new tower only). Also in checking the MRT/Skytrain and the hotel it appearsa that there is an MRT stop right at the front of the hotel. The MRT/skytrain maps indciate that this is also a transfer station as well to the sky train. My question is- since the MRT is underground and the skytrain is above how is thr transfer made? Is there a way to enter the MRT from the hotel and get access to the skytrain as well?
Also have they combined the ticketing for both systems now such that a single ticket can be used for both systems or do we still have to purchase separate tickets?

Re the MRT and BTS(sky train) - You will have to walk out of the hotel to access both. The MRT is right at the corner of Rama 4 and Silom and the BTS is on Silom itself right outside the hotel's Silom road exit.

there is no compatibility between the two systems....you have to pay seperately for each one....the subway is wonderfully air conditioned but unfortunately it goes to few places you will wish to go....there are transfer points between the two at asoke and silom....asoke is easier as silom requires a bit of a walk...

that hotel is really the first lux hotel in bkk after the oriental....i think the queen or one of the princesses was heavily envolved in its building.... it has fantastic restaurants....its location is only so so imo...its right on rama 4, but not far from its corner with silom sort of just opposite the park...rama 4 is a busy noisy road...

bill, the bts and mrt(sala dang) are both very close to the hotel. its a very easy trip from the hotel to asoke/sukhumvit via the mrt. if you plan to use the mrt often, inquire about the senior citizens pass(of course, if you qualify ). don't forget to have the executive lunch at d'sens. i think it is a very good bargin.
