Private Transportation in Ghana
I work at Cheyney University the oldest HBCU (1837) I am taking 30 students to Ghana in May 2006. Does anyone know of a private transporation company that can transport us from Accra to Cape Coast and Kumasi? We will be in Ghana for approximately 10 days.

You are in the Asia forum, not the Africa forum. I have written quite a bit about Ghana over in the African forum. There is a family who's recent(March 2005) trip to Ghana I helped put together on this forum and through her private e-mail address. We corresponded for five months. She has recently written a whole travel story on Ghana accompanied with wonderful photos.HIGHLY educational. She and her husband took their three kids to Ghana. Her name is Sandye and she's from Canada. I'll contact her to see if she will allow me to give out the website that her story/photos have been posted on.If she gives permission, then I can e-mail it to you. Your students would absolutely LOVE this story. Give me a couple of days time. Meanwhile pull up information on Ghana by just typing in Ghana and clicking. Talk to you soon. As for a bus company, I don't know of one off hand, but I'll try contacting a Ghanaian friend who lives here in the U.S. and travels home to Ghana frequently. This might take some time. Where is Cheyney University and what does HBCU mean? Happy Travels!

OK...now I know what HBCU stands for.I looked Cheney University up on the computer. That's the school Ed Bradley of 60 Minutes went to,right? And Oprah went to an HBCU. Both of my parents, who are in their late 70s and mid 80s graduated from one. I've just always referred to them by their complete name.It just threw me off for a minute there. Happy Travels!

It's a fabulous country with equally as fabulous people. It's not one of those places that you go to to see "SIGHTS" as it's not a big "SIGHTS" place. But it's big on "cultural and people experiences". I'll try e-mailing Sandye again. Her story came out great and has received 5 stars from readers. As I mentioned earlier, she was in contact with me for five months and we e-mailed back and forth...regularly. She had lots of questions before taking the trip and I was more than glad to help her out as much as possible. Happy Travels!
