Plaza Athenee Bangkok

This hotel has been recommended to me by a work colleague.
I can't find on a map, how 'convienent' it is for a tourist.
Does anyone have any comments about this hotel?

it was new in 2000 as i remember...it is almost at the corner of plenochit/sukumvit roads and wireless (or in that neighborhood--i can't find my map), almost next door to the regent hotel and other major hotels and very near the american embassy...you would find it very convenient and the skytrain is very near..it is certainly a 5* property...it has a cousin in nyc ..

It's on "Wireless Road" - same road as the Conrad and US embassy. Rooms ain't bad and the management is very good. The owner, Khun Chareoon, is one of the richest man in Thailand and he also own the Plaza Anthenee in New York.

Quite a walk to the nearest Sky Train station and the most convenient mode of transportation would be taxis.

While any Plaza Atenee Hotel is splendid, to say the least, it is much better to stay on the Chao Phraya River when in Bangkok. It is cooler, more pleasant, and much easier to travel by ferry or boat. The Oriental, Pen, Shangri-la, all have free transfers to the Skytrain Station. Downtown Bangkok is very polluted and steamy.
