Okay, I have to weigh in here with Spygirl and add my 2 cents. I think the price point probably has a lot to do with the issue - CD's sell for a mere $15 or so US, so there's not a huge amount of markup even from a buck. But designer handbags sell in the US for nearly $1,000 to as much as $20,000+. Markup for buying a big name is almost obscene. Personally, that makes the fake bag easier to justify purchasing. Presumably, because there is little or no mark up on CD's and DVD's, that's why the major rock and film stars (whose work it is that is generally the most pirated - afterall the piraters only pirate what they think will shift fast)live on the bread line.

the people we should pitty are the artists and recyled pop crap bands. they make a very small percentage from record sales. that money goes too praducers, managers and the label.. rap artist. rock stars. etc. mainly make thier money from concerts and other venues.
