Phi Phi Island or Koh Lanta?

My husband and I are planning to go to Thailand for our first time in December 2004 (around Christmas) for 10 days. We are hoping for a relaxing stay on one (or two?) of the islands that would include beautiful scenery, good food and drinks, lots of places to relax and read, and a little culture to soak up as well. I know that we're going during one of the busiest seasons, and we'd like to minimize the feeling of being overcrowded as much as possible. We were all set to stay at the Phi Phi Island Village, but then I saw some info about Koh Lanta, and that sounded wonderful, too. We're just starting our research so any advice about things to do, where to stay, what to see, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

There is much more opportunity for peace and quiet on Koh Lanta. The further south you go the quieter it becomes. I can recommend the Lanta Miami Bungalows, the Narima Resort, the Pimalai Resort and the Waterfall Bay Resort. They are all in different price categories depending on your budget. The Waterfall Bay Resort is the furthest away from everything. It's very quiet and peaceful there. NO NIGHTLIFE AT ALL. The Lanta Miami Resort is a good inexpensive choice for a basic accomodation, and they have the added advantage of a primitive beachfront bar for some mellow nightlife.

Phi Phi a lot more busier than you would think, gets crowded with day trippers from Phuket. Koh Lanta much more quiet, you won't find much or anything of Thai culture in either sorry to say. Charlie resort on Phi Phi is a nice value for money option.

hello! Phi Phi island beach resort is a stunning place. The beach is great and very private. The only way to get to the resort is by boat. You should visit the website, the pictures does not lie. They have a new big pool with a swim up bar. Tried the SPA up in the hillside. Wonderful! We had the best days of our last Thailand trip on Phi Phi island. We also stayed at the Thavorn Beach village resort and liked it a lot . The pool is r

OOPS was not finnished with my last reply...here it comes: the pool at Thavorn Beach Village resort was relly big and beautiful, but the beach is not nice at all. It looks nice until you`re in the water. lots of rocks.
Remember that planning is a big and wonderful part of the trip.

My son has just returned from yet another trip to Thailand. One of the places he stayed was the Phi Phi Island village resort and he said it was one of the best places he had ever stayed at. Lovely rooms, private beach etc. Sounded like it would be a great place to stay for a few days maybe not 10 as i think he said it was a bit cut off but definately worth a few days there. Maybe go to both places....
