Peninsula Hotel in Beijing

Is anyone familiar with this hotel? If you are can you give me your thoughts on the facilities, level of service and location in Beijing?

Wonderful on all counts. We really enjoyed our five night stay there.

A very nice luxury hotel with good size rooms, good food and good service. A nice location, not really walkable to Tiananmen unless you like really long walks, but otherwise a fine location. Interesting shopping in the neighborhood, and some restaurants. (If you want to be very close to Tiananmen, try the new Grand Hyatt, also an excellent hotel and their pool is really something, but not necessary if your trip is in winter or cool months). However, you really could not go wrong with the Peninsula, IMO.

I adore this hotel and always recommend it. It was the first hotel we stayed at in Beijing and definitely the best location, close to Wangfujing shopping street and a short taxi ride to the Forbidden City. The prices have gone up, but that's to be expected with the upcoming 2008 Olympics and all...still my favorite hotel in town.
