Peak Season Prep: Planning My Dream Himalayan Escape

Hey everyone! I'm finally planning my dream trip to the Himalayas and feeling overwhelmed by all the info out there. What time of year is best to visit spiti? Any tips from seasoned Himalayan travelers would be greatly appreciated! Looking forward to hearing your experiences!

The summer months, from June to September, are generally the best time to visit Spiti in the Himalayas. It is easier to explore the area during this time of year because of the generally pleasant weather, which includes warmer temperatures and less snowfall. In addition, several high mountain crossings, including Kunzum Pass and Rohtang Pass, are open, making it easier to reach Spiti Valley. It's important to remember, that the weather in the Himalayas can still be unpredictable throughout the summer, with sudden shifts and occasional rainfall. Thus, it's an excellent idea to have waterproof clothes and layers of clothing so you're ready for any weather. On the other hand, Spiti's winter season (November to February) is the most dangerous time to visit due to the region's brutally low temperatures and abundance of snowfall. It is difficult to travel to Spiti Valley during this time of year since several of the mountain crossings, including the well-known Rohtang Pass, are blocked.
