not a good idea really from all reports...flying is best, albeit expensive---bangkok air is the choice direct...some others through PP....

Check out www.talesofasia.com they have an updated site for road travel from BKK to Siem Reap. It's not recommended, unless you are a die hard backpacker.

By all accounts, it is a long and miserable full-day trip each way. I've never heard anyone say that it was especially scenic, interesting or worthwhile. It's cheap if you have more time (and endurance) than money. The talesofasia.com site is considered to be the best account of how to do this trip.

it can be fun... as far as sceenic.. well you see nothern cambodia... which is just about the pourest part of an already poor contry.. if ya like looking out the window and seeing villages and local life.. then at least do it one way.. I did and don't regret it but I'd try not too do it again it again....I"M not sure if the roads are patheed all the way yet..

I was short of time so decided to compromise - if I have the time I prefer to travel overland - you see nothing from a plane. So fly one way and road the other. Recommend flying to Cambodia as visa issued on the spot at the airport in SR. Returning to Thailand no visa required and so no delays. It becomes just like any other border crossing.
