No booze in thailand after midnight

yesterday without warning the government passed a law outlawing the sale of liquor at all stores as well as venues serving drinks.

The two daily periods when alcohol for personal consumption can be sold are 11am-2pm and 5pm-midnight

wow...that seems a bit extreme. Just so I'm clear on this - does this mean that a person cannot buy a alcoholic beverage anywhere in Thailand in mid-afternoon. Including not being able to buy a beer on the beach at a resort? How strictly is(will) the law enforced?

Wow is right. The guy with the gong announcing happy hour at the Marriott will be looking for a new job!

Yes, but isn't prostitution illegal in thailand too? I am really questioning how strictly this will be enforced after awhile...

This is just typical Thai. The hours for operating a bar have been shortened so that there are really no longer any of the late night places in business (unless they pay...). This new law will be very difficult to try to enforce.

The regulation or law applies to shops not bars or restaurants.

the news came from the nation newspaper.

http://203.150.224.53/2005/11/18/national/

if you saw my post about zoo in chaing mai serving elephant, lion and dog. you'll find an article about that mess here as well..

I honestly hope both are an internet scam.
