New United non-sop SFO-SIN

I just received an email from United that they are starting a new flight from San Francisco to Singapore on a 787 dreamliner.

That sounds good that it's non-stop. I wish that Singapore Air had the same out of L.A. instead of having to go through Narita. I probably won't take the United non-stop one though as I don't want to deal with having to fly from L.A. to S.F. and have possible fog problems. Been there done that plenty of times.

I used to fly the non-stop, United to Paris flight from S.F. and got stranded in L.A.X, from early morning to around 5PM before the flight was able to take off, due to fog problems in S.F. When I got to S.F., I had to overnight there and my 6-night trip to Paris ended up 5 nights by the time I got there. I've also been delayed in S.F., more than a few times, trying to come home to L.A., because the plane couldn't take off due to fog in S.F. I almost missed getting back to work one evening, in L.A., due to fog in S.F. which delayed that particular flight.

Happy Travels!

East bound scheduled for 15:30, westbound 16:20. Minus about 20 minutes for actual flying time.

It's a long flight, but I used to take the 18-hour, non-stop flight from L.A. to Bangkok. One big advantage is that once you get on the flight, you don't have to see another airport until you land at your destination. Plus, Thai Air used to leave out of LAX at around 11PM so by the time dinner was served and finished on that flight, passengers were ready to sleep, so the flight was quiet. I don't know what time the United flight will depart S.F.

Happy Travels!

UA1 departs SFO 10:55pm. Winter time adds 15 minutes for 16:35 schedule.
