New Airport
Interesting article from the Bangkok Post on the opening of the new airport. Even through the airport is only a few kms further than the old airport the taxi fares are likely to double. Limousine companies that pick up travellers from hotels and residences will probably double the one-way fare from around 600 to 1200 baht.

Thank you, Scotters. It is a very interesting article. But this is what really caught my attention -- Check in THREE hours before departure for flights to the US! I wonder how strict they will be about that. What if the lines are long at the check-in counters? Last time (at the old airport) it took me over an hour to get to the front of the line. So do I need to get to the airport FOUR hours before my flight? I guess this is another reason to stay at the adjacent hotel.

OJudy, I always take an early flight out of Bangkok to home, and while they used to recommend check-in 2 hours ahead of time, the check in desks weren't even open then! I'm going to ask United on my way in what time they open their check in lines.
