New Airport
Interesting article from the Bangkok Post on the opening of the new airport. Even through the airport is only a few kms further than the old airport the taxi fares are likely to double. Limousine companies that pick up travellers from hotels and residences will probably double the one-way fare from around 600 to 1200 baht.

Did they never get the sky train out as far as the airport? I thought they were wirking on it a few years ago.

Thank you, Scotters. It is a very interesting article. But this is what really caught my attention -- Check in THREE hours before departure for flights to the US! I wonder how strict they will be about that. What if the lines are long at the check-in counters? Last time (at the old airport) it took me over an hour to get to the front of the line. So do I need to get to the airport FOUR hours before my flight? I guess this is another reason to stay at the adjacent hotel.

Cary, note the last paragraph of the newspaper story says teh Skytrain will reach that far in 2008. Remember, this is the new airport that has not yet opened.

OJudy, I always take an early flight out of Bangkok to home, and while they used to recommend check-in 2 hours ahead of time, the check in desks weren't even open then! I'm going to ask United on my way in what time they open their check in lines.
