need advice on hotels please!!!!

will be in koh samui from august 11 until 24 for honeymoon. been trying to decide on accomadations but there seem to be to many choices. we are beach people foremost but enjoy good restaurants and nightlife as well.
from what i have been reading chaweng is not the best spot for the beach but they have nightlife so we wouldnt mind being nearby.
some resorts we were thinking:

white house
imperial boat house
saboey resort
paradise beach
amari palm reef
rocky resort
nora beach resort

can anyone suggest other resorts or comment on these??

also how many days do you recommend staying in bangkok in order do do the major sights, shopping etc.???

I'd say you need a minimum of five full days to do Bangkok properly. I've probably spent a couple of months there over the years and still find new things to do.

For Samui resorts, I've stayed at Tongsai Bay in the north near the airport, and about 10 mins drive from Chaweng, and enjoyed it, though it's fairly 'middle-aged' in terms of nightlife. I also stayed in Chaweng on my way back, at a funky designer hotel called Muang Kulaypan, which is much closer to the action (at the northern end of Chaweng beach) but does not have so many activites laid on, and is not for everyone (very minimalist).
You can read my reviews of these at:
