Bangkok - Thai Islands - HCMC in 7 days
Is it possible to visit BKK, one of the Thai islands, and Ho Chi Minh City in 7 days? Does anyone have suggestions for an itinerary?
If its not possible, what should we priortize? Islands or HCMC? Between the two of us traveling we like both city and beach but are do not know which island we would choose.
A package tour is also an option. Any suggestions? We fly in and out of BKK travel dates: March 5-15.
THANKS!

Hi margo - welcome to the forum. You haven't done any research at all, have you? Never mind.
This post is on this page:
http://www.fodors.com/community/asia...and-for-me.cfm
It's perfectly possible to do anything you want.
How to prioritise? How can anybody answer than than yourselves? Although, if all you want is beach, you can go anywhere with a hotel, some sand and some water. It doesn't have to be an island. Wherever it is, unless someone has better info than this site, you'll have to fly back to BKK to get to HCMC.

How much do you want to go to HCMC? Why? Because it's a city? So is Bangkok.
So, your itinerary, whichever strip of sand you choose, will inevitably be Home/BKK - beach/beach - BKK/BKK - HCMC/HCMC - BKK/BKK - Home.
Look here:

http://bangkokair.com/
here for hotels in all 3 places:
http://www.latestays.com/
or www.agoda.com
or about a hundred other booking sites.
Here's a bangkok site:

If all this looks too hard, maybe just get a package tour...

If it were me - and it isn't - I'd opt for not more than two places in a week. Otherwise, you'll spend way too much of your vacation in airports.
IMO, Bangkok is a much more interesting city than HCMC.
If you do a bit of research about where you want to go, this will be remarkably simple. No need for a package tour unless that's the way you prefer to travel.
Do you have a guidebook yet?

It's possible but you'd be wasting 3 out of the 7 days traveling between those destinations. As above Kathie stated, I'd go to Bangkok ... and there is so much to see & do, it takes much more than 7 days just to see Bangkok. If you must go to a beach, charming Hua Hin is just 2-hours drive southwest of Bangkok (others might suggest Pattaya but I'd avoid it). We were in Bangkok (10 nights) and Hua Hin (3 nights) last February and it's highly recommended: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kalboz/...7623540869608/
