yes it is the "craft" store across the street from the former world trade center and next door to gaysorn plaza....i think it has semi-official government status??
DON'T MISS THE CELLER...tons of shops selling stuff very cheap...
ground floor and 1st floor sell all kinds of thai crafts: silks, wood, inlay, bronze, cottons, etc...
plan to spend one hour or so...

Yes, it's very nice, but you don't need Ratt to take you there. Why shop on the clock? Just go to the Chitlom sky train stop and it's the side street to Gaysorn Mall ....or go to the other location also at Chitlom sky train station, but in the Amarin Mall...which can be accessed from the skytrain bridge. You can EASILY do both. The Amarin Plaza one is smaller, less hectic, but had some things that I couldn't get at the other one...like those great Northern Thai rattan trays that are elevated on a circular leg. The main store doesn't have them, but the Amarin Plaza store has them and in all sizes....on display. I've been trying to find them for years and there they were. They also have great mousepads with pictures of Thailand on them which they didn't have at the main store and they are only 100 baht. There're a lot of other ethnic Thai things in that whole mall. I've always loved Amarin Plaza although not a lot of tourist seem to go there. Happy Travels!

I suspect Ratt has worked this into their day of touring about BKK- just like we did. If you buy a lot- and chances are you will at this fine store- then the packages go right in her trunk and you are off to another venue- to take the trian means schlepping these packages around in that god awful heat. So I think she has made the right call here- plus Ratt gets you a 5% discount at this store.

I agree with Bob...don't miss the basement! Especially if the night market is closed and you don't have time to get souvinears for anyone somewhere else. This is one stop shopping for all tourist needs. I got sick during our last few days in BKK and did not have the stamina to go on a shopping marithon. A few hours in the basement of this store was enough to get every gift I needed for people back home.
My favorite purchase was 8 chinese style silk (probably not genuine) reversable bath robes in differend colors for about 250 baht each. I know the people I gave them to two years ago still wear them almost every day!
The store itself is really nice to pick up some authentic souvinears. You know the quality will be better than anything you get on the street.
