Nanjing or Guilin?

I will be travelling to China next spring with high school students. I have a couple of extra days and after Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Xi'an, I was going to take them to either Nanjing or on a cruise from Guilin on the Li River. Does anyone have any recommendation for one over the other? I've never been to either place and simply picked them because they both sound quite interesting. Thanks in advance for any comments.

Guilin will get my vote. Cruising along the Li River is the main highlight.
Nanjing is not that good in my opinion, especially after you visited Beijing.

I like Nanjing, but would agree with the previous poster that after the cities the Guilin cruise would be a better idea...
Enjoy

just returned after china trip with teenaged daughter.found guilin cruise most relaxing and daughter loved the shore excursion at yangshou.i would suggest an overnight stay at yangshou-wonderful cycling into typical chinese countryside, fascinating market and western food joints.
