Myanmar question!

My partner and I were planing a 6 day trip to Myanmar 2 days in Yangon and 3 days Bagan and 1 day travel. Aug 10-15th We have flights, hotels ... Just need Visa.

Our question:
1. Since we need to tell the consulate our entry and exit days and we're thinking of extending our trip ... Is it possible to randomly find a hotel/destination last minute for 3 extra days in Myanmar?

2. If we wanted to visit another place (not Mandalay) where would be a great place to go ... Probably traveling from Yangon?

3. Or should we just take longer in Yangon or Bagan?

4. Or is our original 5 days in Myanmar enough before we head off for more of Laos and Thailand (whole trip is Aug 6-26)

Thanks for input.

1. August is rainy season, so last minute booking should be okay. Use Agoda.com to check availability.
2. Inle lake is a major site, about 40 mins flight then 45 mins by car will get you there from Yangon.
3. You could add a day to each, what are your interests ?
4. I would want more time in Myanmar. It will be very hot, and sudden downpours may slow things down, you may not travel as fast as usual.

If you can add more time, I'd add Inle Lake. I consider Inle and Bagan the two "wow" destinations of the big 4. You will get 28 days visa in Myanmar once you arrive. So even if you give you current entry and exit dates when you get your visa, once you arrive in Yangon, you'll get a full 28 days. Myanmar is a fabulous destination - add as much time to that destination as you can!

If you opt to add Inle, plan to go there from Bagan or to go to Bagan from Inle, do not plan to return to Yangon in the middle. So Yangon-Inle-Bagan-Yangon OR Yangon-Bagan-Inle-Yangon.

I highly recommend you add Inle to your itinerary

Is inle lake worth it? We'll need to change our return flight.

cargo, is this a local (Yangon or Mandalay) agent? For Myanmar, I would only use an in-country agent.
